From Lansing
No Skull is a heavy punk trio from Lansing formed in 2016 by guitarist/vocalist Ryan Andrews, formerly of Red Teeth, BerT and Dr. Device. The band released their self-titled debut EP in 2019 via GTG Records and Madlantis Records, featuring songs Andrews originally wrote in the 1990s and re-recorded with bassist Jules Purosky and drummer Abby Mogg. Their sound blends heavy punk with elements of sludge, stoner rock, and 90s grunge influences including Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Melvins.
From Detroit
Detroit rock duo Ladyship Warship is EZ Myers, on guitar, mandocello, and vocals, and Kristin Lyn on drums and vocals. The pair describe their sound as "Northern Swamp Rock" and draw on the stripped-down drum-and-guitar format to deliver what their Bandcamp page calls "rolling demonic sludge." Their debut self-titled record and the EP Lacrimosus Intolerantem are among their releases. The Detroit News ran an artist spotlight on the duo in October 2024.
From Grand Rapids
Supergrudge plays heavy rock that a listing describes as "throat punching bass and drums with a Deftones. .." quality. Joey Warhead handles vocals, Kevin Keefer plays drums, Brent Nowak plays guitar, and Ivan Hannah plays bass.
From Lansing
LVRS is a queer-fronted indie rock trio from Jackson, Michigan. Their 2018 album "Now Is Light" reached No. 1 on the Local Spins Hot Top 5 chart, representing the regional album with the most radio airplay at WYCE. The band released their fourth album "Sitting With the Unknown" in 2021, followed by "Joy Compass." Their sound combines shoegaze vocals with polished indie rock arrangements.
