Terms of Service
Effective October 13, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Xerocracy LLC, a Michigan limited liability company that publishes Bored Lansing (boredlansing.com). "We," "us," and "our" mean Xerocracy LLC. "Bored Lansing" means boredlansing.com and any related pages or services we run for it. "You" means the person using Bored Lansing, and, if you're using it for a band, venue, or other group, that group too.
By using Bored Lansing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Bored Lansing.
The short version
- Bored Lansing is a publication. We decide what to publish, and we write it.
- Listings may be incomplete or wrong. Anyone can ask us to correct or remove something.
- If you submit a show, we may edit it and publish it.
- Don't misuse the site or the people on it.
- We provide Bored Lansing as it is.
- Michigan law applies.
The full terms follow.
Our editorial role
Bored Lansing is an editorial publication. We decide what to publish, and we write and edit it ourselves. We use automated and AI tools to help, and a person reviews what they produce. Our Privacy Policy explains how.
Show listings and artist descriptions may be incomplete or wrong. Anyone can ask us to correct or remove something by emailing webmaster@xerocracy.co, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Submitting a show
When you submit a show, you're confirming that the details are accurate as far as you know, and that you have the right to share what you send. We decide what to publish, and we may edit what you send.
When you submit a show, you give Xerocracy LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish, edit, adapt, and use your submission in publications we run, like Bored Lansing. The license continues for anything already published using your submission.
Artist content from Xerocracy
We also run Xerocracy, where artists add content to their own profiles. When Bored Lansing uses that content, it does so under the license artists give us in Xerocracy's terms: xerocracy.co/terms. We review and edit that content as our own editorial work, and we're responsible for how Bored Lansing presents it.
Using Bored Lansing respectfully
Please don't:
- pretend to be another person or act,
- submit false information,
- harass, threaten, or abuse anyone,
- break the law or help someone else break it,
- access parts of the site or data that aren't public,
- scrape or bulk-copy the site,
- probe, test, or disrupt the site's security or operation,
- use Bored Lansing to send spam, or
- get around limits or other restrictions we've put in place.
What belongs to us
The Bored Lansing name, logo, designs, code, and the text we write are ours, or belong to the people we license them from. You can share links to public pages and screenshots of them.
What belongs to you, like your band's name, music, and photos, stays yours.
Other services
Bored Lansing links to other services, like Instagram or Spotify. We don't control them, and their own terms apply when you use them.
Disclaimers
We provide Bored Lansing as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Listings and artist descriptions come partly from public sources and automated tools, so they may be incomplete or wrong. We don't promise the site will always be available or error-free.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Xerocracy LLC isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim related to Bored Lansing is limited to $50, or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater.
Some places don't allow these limits. If that applies to you, these limits apply only as far as the law allows.
Resolving disagreements
If you have a dispute with us about Bored Lansing or these terms, contact us first at webmaster@xerocracy.co. Tell us who you are, what the problem is, and what you'd like us to do. We'll try to resolve it informally within 30 days of receiving your message. We'll do the same for you: before we take legal action against you, we'll contact you and try to work it out. We can agree in writing to extend this period.
Neither of us will start a lawsuit until those 30 days have passed, and any legal deadlines are paused while we're trying to resolve it. Either of us can still go to small claims court, or ask a court for urgent relief, like stopping misuse of content or the site, at any time.
If we can't resolve it, Michigan law applies, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit will be brought in the state courts in Ingham County, Michigan, or the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, and we both agree to those courts.
To correct or remove something on Bored Lansing, you don't need this process. Email us as described under Our editorial role; that's separate and faster.
Changes to these terms
We'll post any changes here with a new effective date. If you keep using Bored Lansing after a change, you're agreeing to the new terms.
The fine print
These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about Bored Lansing. If a part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You can't transfer these terms to someone else. We may transfer them if Xerocracy LLC is sold or merged. If these terms end, the parts meant to continue still apply. These include the license for submissions already published, the disclaimers, the limits on our liability, and how we resolve disagreements.
